Nitrux 3.6.1 'lp' released with enhanced performance, hardware support, and new features
Nitrux has unveiled version 3.6.1 “lp” of its independent Linux distribution, featuring a slew of software updates, bug fixes, performance enhancements, and expanded hardware support. This release is built on the Linux kernel 6.9.12 (Liquorix) and includes updates such as Firefox 129.0.2, NVIDIA Linux x64 Display Driver 560.35.03, MESA 3D Graphics Library 24.2.1, and Nitrux Update Tool System 2.1.6.
Key improvements in Nitrux 3.6.1 include an updated TLP configuration aimed at optimizing battery life by improving the timeout for writing unsaved data in file system buffers. Additionally, the Sysctl configuration has been refined to expedite the write-back of dirty pages, balancing system performance and data integrity.
The Calamares installer configuration has been updated to remove the requirement for an active internet connection during installation. Furthermore, the size requirement for the EFI System Partition (ESP) has been reduced to better support dual-boot setups with Windows devices using a 100M ESP.
Nitrux 3.6.1 also introduces support for additional languages, pipx (a package manager for isolated Python application environments), and desktop launchers for installing applications like LibreOffice and Bauh, alongside existing options for Steam, Bottles, and more.
