Turkey bans Roblox over child exploitation concerns amid safety and legal issues

The Turkish government has imposed an indefinite nationwide ban on Roblox, citing concerns over "child exploitation." This decision follows reports of inappropriate sexual content on the platform, which authorities believe exploits children. Roblox has faced criticism for its inadequate safety measures against mature content and for benefiting from child labor, as many popular mini-games are created by young users.

Turkish officials have blocked access to Roblox for all users and creators, arguing that the platform's practices exploit children. Roblox has acknowledged the ban and is working with relevant authorities to resolve the issue and restore access in Turkey. This move has raised significant concerns among creators and players about the future of their earnings and the value of Robux held in their accounts.

The platform's safety issues, especially its poor safeguards against mature material, have contributed to the controversy leading to the ban.

They're in the right. Go into any LGBT game and just listen to the conversations they're having. It's sick.

It is more significant this coincides with a ban on Instagram, and VPNs (again) after a spat over accusing Instagram Turkish users posts that displayed condolences over the killing of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh.

Minor correction. A word somehow wound up missing as this was typed. Instagram was accused of censoring the posts of Turkish users.
