Proton VPN expands access to Chrome and Firefox extensions to its free users
Proton VPN now allows free users to access its Chrome and Firefox extensions, which were previously exclusive to paying customers. This move is expected to satisfy one of the most popular requests from the community, facilitating online privacy and the ability to bypass censorship.
The extensions are compatible with a wide range of browsers, including Chromium-based ones like Brave and Microsoft Edge, as well as Firefox-based browsers such as LibreWolf and Waterfox. This broad compatibility ensures many users can benefit from Proton VPN's privacy features. Proton Free plan distinguishes itself from other free VPNs by not limiting bandwidth, avoiding user surveillance, steering clear of invasive ads, and not selling user data.
The addon is easy to use: users simply click the extension icon and press connect to join the VPN network. Although users cannot choose a specific server, the extension automatically connects to a nearby fast server, potentially in another country. It also includes features like Auto Connect, WebRTC Leak Protection, and connection notifications, all designed to provide a seamless and secure browsing experience.
