Google Photos 6.93 update enhances Memories editing with AI-powered curation
Google Photos has released its Version 6.93 update, enhancing the editing experience within the Memories tab UI. A new icon featuring three sliders has been added to the lower right-hand corner, providing users with quick access to editing tools. This update simplifies the process of editing older photos, including those taken before the introduction of newer tools like Magic Eraser.
The update also incorporates Google's AI algorithm for better curation, allowing users to customize which images appear in their Memories. Users can now guide the algorithm to include familiar faces or exclude unwanted ones, giving them greater control over displayed memories. The new UI facilitates easy access to editing tools with a single tap, reducing the steps previously required through the overflow menu and day view.
Despite these improvements, the feature mainly serves as a new trigger for existing tools and does not yet allow users to force the use of alternative images from the same day. Additionally, users must back up their images to Google Drive to take advantage of the Memories and new editing features.
