FreePBX 17 launches with Debian 12, PHP 8.2, and enhanced cloud deployment options

The FreePBX team recently unveiled FreePBX 17, the latest iteration of the wordl's most widely used IPBX VoIP and telephony solution. This new version marks a significant transition from CentOS to Debian 12, addressing the end-of-life status of CentOS and ensuring long-term stability and support.

FreePBX 17 enhances deployment flexibility, making it easier to roll out across various cloud providers, including AWS, DigitalOcean, and Vultr. Leveraging Debian’s immediate access to upstream security patches, the new release offers a secure environment, fortifying defenses against vulnerabilities and threats.

The update brings support for PHP 8.2, enabling users to take advantage of the latest features and performance enhancements. Additionally, FreePBX 17 includes Asterisk 21 by default and incorporates the latest Node.js version along with modern front-end libraries, significantly improving the performance and capabilities of the web interface.
