Roll20 data breach exposes user information; company assures no evidence of misuse

Roll20, a leading online platform for tabletop and role-playing games, experienced a data breach on June 29, exposing users' personal information. The breach occurred when an unauthorized individual accessed Roll20's administrative website for an hour. The company quickly blocked the access and ended the network breach.

During the incident, the hacker modified one user account, which Roll20 corrected immediately. The intruder potentially viewed personal information of all user accounts, including full names, email addresses, last-known IP addresses, and the last four digits of credit cards if stored. Importantly, the company assures passwords and full payment details were not compromised.

Roll20 is in the process of notifying users about the breach, and despite not revealing the total number of affected users or specifics about the hacker, Roll20 assured its 12 million users that there is no evidence of data misuse. The company is continuing its investigation and has no further details to share at this time.
