Oracle releases VirtualBox 7.0.20: new Linux kernel support, clipboard fixes, and more

Oracle has released VirtualBox 7.0.20, the latest update to its open-source virtualization software. This version introduces initial support for kernels in openSUSE Leap 15.6 and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.5. It also enhances the Shared Clipboard feature, fixing an issue where extra new lines were added when copying text between Windows and X11.

VirtualBox 7.0.20 arrives just over two months after version 7.0.18, which addressed UBSAN warnings and timestamp display issues in Linux Guest Additions. The previous update also resolved host system crashes related to bridged or host-only network adapters.

Key fixes in 7.0.20 include resolving a deadlock issue in USB OHCI during virtual machine state saves or snapshots and addressing problems with USB device pass-through on macOS hosts. Additionally, TPM errors in the event viewer for Windows guests and audio recording issues with HDA emulation after reboots of newer Windows 10 and Windows 11 guests have been fixed. New Microsoft certificates have also been added to the UEFI Secure Boot list for new virtual machines. The complete changes can be found in the official changelog.
