GitLab 17.2 released with log streaming, a new pipeline execution security policy and more

GitLab has unveiled version 17.2 of its cloud-based software development platform, introducing several new features and enhancements. Among the highlights is log streaming for pods and containers, allowing users to troubleshoot issues directly within their application delivery tool.

The update also brings a new pipeline execution security policy, enabling enforcement of generic CI jobs, scripts, and instructions. Custom rulesets in pipeline secret detection have been expanded, providing more flexibility in securing CI/CD pipelines.

A significant addition is the merge check feature, which prevents merging until requested changes are resolved. If the original requester is unavailable, those with merge permissions can bypass the request to maintain development flow.

Vulnerability explanations are now generally available via GitLab Duo Chat, enhancing collaborative security efforts. The platform also supports the OAuth 2.0 device authorization grant flow, simplifying secure device access.

Furthermore, GitLab Duo Chat and Code Suggestions are now accessible within workspaces, promoting streamlined communication and coding efficiency. Version 17.2 also includes numerous other improvements and bug fixes, continuing GitLab's commitment to delivering robust development tools.
