Firefox 128 launches with enhanced privacy controls, trending search suggestions, and more
Mozilla Firefox 128 is now available for download via Mozilla’s FTP server, featuring a range of new features, including a revamped Clear User Data dialog, enabling users to delete browsing history, cookies, site data, site settings, and cached files for specific time periods. This dialog also shows the size of site data for the selected time range. Additionally, Search Suggestions now display trending topics from Google Trending Searches by default.
Firefox 128 brings support for playing protected content in Private Browsing mode and enhances the rendering of more text/* file types inline. The update includes default support for proxying DNS with SOCKS v5 to prevent DNS leaks. Language support has been expanded to include Saraiki (skr), and users can now translate selected text directly from the context menu. On the Android version, Passkey support has been added for third-party apps, and macOS users will benefit from improved audio quality.
For developers, Firefox 128 offers support for @property and the CSS properties-and-values API, Resizeable ArrayBuffers, and Growable SharedArrayBuffers in SpiderMonkey. The setCodecPreferences method now allows disabling specific codecs, and CSS rules specificity is displayed in tooltips within the Inspector Rules view. Moreover, the “Accept” header for images and documents has been updated to align with the “Fetch” standard.
