KDE Plasma 6.1 brings new features and improved usability to the desktop experience
KDE has released KDE Plasma 6.1, the first point release following the KDE Plasma 6 Megarelease launched a couple of months ago. This update introduces significant improvements and new features aimed at enhancing the desktop environment. While Plasma 6.0 focused on transitioning to the Qt 6 frameworks, version 6.1 begins implementing user-centric features.
A notable addition in Plasma 6.1 is the ability to initiate a remote desktop session directly from the System Settings app, facilitating easy remote connections to a Plasma-enabled computer using clients like KRDC. The visual aspect of Edit Mode has also been revamped, now featuring a smooth zoom-out animation that improves customization of your desktop experience.
Plasma 6.1 on Wayland includes a session restore feature, similar to what was available under X11, allowing it to remember the activities from your last session. Additionally, users can now synchronize the LED colors of their keyboard keys with the desktop's accent color, provided the keyboard is supported. The update also simplifies options for exiting Plasma, enhances Screen Locking, and introduces various accessibility and Wayland-related improvements, including Explicit Sync and Triple Buffering for a smoother and more stable KDE Plasma experience.
