GitLab 17.1 brings Model registry beta and multiple GitLab Duo code suggestions in VS Code

GitLab has launched version 17.1, featuring significant updates and enhancements. Among the key additions is the Model Registry, now in beta, which lets users add and edit models via the UI and integrate with MLflow as a backend. This update aims to streamline the management of machine learning models within GitLab.

The update also enhances GitLab Duo Code Suggestions in Visual Studio Code, now supporting multiple suggestions. Users can conveniently hover over a suggestion and navigate through options using arrows or keyboard shortcuts, improving the coding experience.

Another significant improvement is in secret push protection, which now blocks commits containing detected secrets. This feature provides detailed information about the commit, such as the commit ID, filename, line number, and type of secret, enhancing security measures.

Additionally, the GitLab Runner Autoscaler, utilizing GitLab-developed taskscaler and fleeting technologies along with a cloud provider plugin for Google Compute Engine, is now generally available. Other updates include a GitLab connector application on the Snowflake Marketplace, an improved wiki user experience, a new Value Stream Management report generator tool, and various other improvements and bug fixes.
