1Password introduces recovery codes for secure account access recovery

Popular password manager 1Password has just announced the introduction of recovery codes. These codes provide a secure, reliable, and simple method for regaining access to your 1Password account, even if you forget your account password or lose your secret key.

A recovery code is a unique and secure code generated by an app or website as a backup. In the case of 1Password, it serves as a fallback if you forget your account password, can’t use two-factor authentication, or lose your emergency kit containing your secret key.

Creating a recovery code proactively is crucial to avoid losing any sensitive data. You cannot generate a recovery code after losing access to your 1Password account. Once created, you can use the recovery code at any time, provided you still have access to the email address associated with your account, to regain access and set up new sign-in details.
