Vector graphics editor Graphite launches new grid overlay and improved snapping system
Graphite, the online raster and vector graphics design tool, has just published its Q1 2024 progress report. The report details significant updates, including the introduction of a grid overlay feature for the canvas, which allows users to customize rectangular and isometric grid lines, and an overhauled snapping system, which facilitates the alignment of shapes with each other and with the grid.
The update also encompasses a range of other enhancements, including improvements to the Copy to Points node and the node graph UI. A morph node has been added for tweening vector shapes, and a new feature allows users to visualize which nodes are causing a graph type error.
In addition, Graphite's document tilting feature has been upgraded, with improvements to resetting tilt, and an SVG import feature has been added, broadening the range of file types that can be worked with within the tool. A Poisson-Disk Points node has also been introduced in this update, allowing users to sample randomly distributed points within a shape, and various other enhancements have been applied to the many tools within this 2D vector graphics editor.
