Tails 6.3 has been released with updated Tor Browser, bug fixes, and added translations
Tails, the Linux-based operating system designed to protect against surveillance and censorship, has launched its 6.3 version, packed with several updates and improvements.
Tails 6.3 upgrades the Tor Browser to version 13.0.15. In addition, the system temporarily disables the PDF reader of Thunderbird to prevent a security vulnerability related to the handling of fonts in PDF files. However, PDF files can still be opened in the Document Viewer from Thunderbird.
The latest version of Tails has also changed the default button at the end of an automatic upgrade to Restart later from Restart now. Tails 6.3 has addressed printer configuration issues present in Tails 5.23 or earlier, specifically when new printers were being set up and some printers were already configured in the persistent storage.
Another enhancement is the removal of the extended delay between the Welcome Screen and the GNOME desktop when MAC address anonymization fails. Finally, Tails 6.3 has reintroduced translations in Romanian and Malayalam, broadening its accessibility to more users around the globe.
