Opera integrates Google Cloud's Gemini models and image understanding into Aria AI

Opera has announced a collaboration with Google Cloud to integrate Gemini models into its web browser AI, Aria. This integration allows Aria to access over 150 local LLM variants from around 50 model families, giving users a broad range of options to suit their needs. According to Opera, Google’s Gemini is their most advanced model to date.

Additionally, Opera has introduced image understanding to Aria, enabling users to upload images in the sidebar chat and ask questions about them. This feature is available in the Developer stream of the browser. Aria in Opera One Developer also offers free image generation capabilities by leveraging the Imagen 2 model on Vertex AI, facilitated by the Google Cloud partnership.
