LastPass officially splits from GoTo, strengthens security measures as independent entity

LastPass has officially split from its previous parent company, GoTo, and is now functioning as an independent entity. This separation, initially announced in December 2021, represents a significant change for the company. The move follows a string of high-profile attacks on LastPass, prompting the introduction of stricter security measures.

CEO Karim Toubba continues to lead the company, emphasizing the company's commitment to enhancing security, quality, and performance across the platform. LastPass has reassured stakeholders of its robust financial status, suggesting future investments in technology and research.

The company is now owned by private equity sponsors Francisco Partners and Elliott Management. LastPass continues to maintain its Boston presence but now operates from its own property, symbolizing its independence from its former parent company.
