Intuit to discontinue QuickBooks Desktop by May 2024; urges shift to online version

Intuit has declared the discontinuation of its Intuit QuickBooks Desktop 2021 software, including Pro, Premier, Mac, and Enterprise Solutions v21, effective from May 31, 2024. Users are being informed about this change via email, in-product notifications, mail, and the official QuickBooks page.

The discontinuation means that QuickBooks Desktop 2021 users will lose access to live technical support or integrated Intuit services such as Payroll, Payments, and online bank feeds after May 31, 2024. Discontinued versions will also stop receiving crucial security updates from June 1, 2024.

To continue receiving service, security updates, and features, users are recommended to transition to QuickBooks Online. This platform offers flexibility and collaboration, allowing users to access data anytime, anywhere, and includes features such as syncing bank transactions and paying bills. The migration process typically takes less than an hour, and users can refer to the "Move your QuickBooks Desktop file to QuickBooks Online" guide for assistance. The transition to QuickBooks Online will not alter the existing QuickBooks Desktop file.
