Bumble's new "Opening Move" feature offers prewritten conversation starters
Bumble recently introduced a new feature in its app redesign called "Opening Move," which simplifies the initiation of conversations. Women can now choose from a list of prewritten prompts or create their own, which are sent to all their matches. Let's remember that one of the distinguishing features that sets Bumble apart from competitors like Tinder, happn or Hinge is the ability to empower women to take the lead after matching, until now.
The prompts include questions such as "Who’s your dream dinner party guest?" and "What do you like about my profile?" Women can decide to continue the conversation or let it expire after 24 hours of inactivity. Bumble also caters to same-gender and nonbinary matches, giving either user the option to initiate or respond to an "Opening Move."
Bumble has also enhanced its "dating intention" badges, allowing users to display up to two badges that indicate their relationship preferences. The app has improved profile visibility by showing common interests and favorite musicians. Users are required to upload at least four photos during account creation, and profiles with fewer than four images will not appear in Bumble's algorithm-based recommendations.
