Android 15 Beta 2 is here with Private space, AV1 decoding, and support for more devices

Google has unveiled the second beta of Android 15, following the release of [the first beta] just one month ago. The latest beta is accessible across various devices including handsets, tablets, and foldables from partners such as Honor, iQOO, Lenovo, Nothing, OnePlus, OPPO, Realme, Sharp, Tecno, vivo, Xiaomi, and Google's own Pixel phones.

The second beta of Android 15 introduces several enhancements including optimized foreground services, 16 KB page sizes support, and the optional use of ANGLE for running OpenGL ES on Vulkan. The update also brings improved graphics and more efficient AV1 software decoding.

Alongside these technical improvements, Android 15 beta 2 introduces “Private space”. This feature allows users to establish a separate, secure area on their device for sensitive apps, protected by an additional layer of authentication. The update also includes enhancements to selected photo access, as well as additional privacy and security features.
