X/Twitter rolls out Passkey support for iOS users worldwide

The X safety team has recently announced via X/Twitter that their Passkeys feature is now globally available to all iOS users. Passkeys is an innovative feature that provides a secure and streamlined alternative to conventional password systems. It is designed to simplify sign-ins across multiple devices, offering a higher level of security.

The Passkeys feature works by generating unique keys for each user account on a specific device. This method significantly reduces the risk of phishing attacks and unauthorized access, as each passkey is unique to the device and account it was generated for.

The implementation of Passkeys also brings convenience to the user experience. Once set up, users can utilize their passkey to log into their accounts across various devices, eliminating the need to remember or reset forgotten passwords.

To activate Passkeys on the X app for iOS, users should log into the account they wish to use Passkeys for, then navigate to 'Your account', select 'Settings and privacy', followed by 'Security and account access', then 'Security'. Under 'Additional password protection', select 'Passkey', enter your current password when prompted, and select 'Add a passkey', following the prompts that appear thereafter.
