Canonical launches Ubuntu Pro for Devices as a comprehensive IoT security subscription

Canonical has unveiled Ubuntu Pro for Devices, a comprehensive solution designed to streamline security and compliance for Internet of Things (IoT) device deployments. The offering ensures 10 years of security maintenance for Ubuntu and a multitude of open source packages, including Python, Docker, OpenJDK, OpenCV, MQTT, OpenSSL, Go, and Robot Operating System (ROS).

In addition to security maintenance, the subscription includes device management capabilities via Landscape, Canonical's systems management tool. It also offers access to Real-time Ubuntu for latency-sensitive use cases.

Ubuntu Pro for Devices can be procured directly from Canonical or from a broad array of original device manufacturers within Canonical's partner ecosystem. Partners include ADLINK, AAEON, Advantech, and DFI.

The new offering can also be paired with Canonical's existing Ubuntu Certified Hardware program. This combination provides an in class Ubuntu experience on devices right out-of-the-box and for up to a decade.
