Amazon Music launches AI-powered playlist generator 'Maestro', following Spotify's lead
Amazon Music has introduced a new AI-powered playlist generator named Maestro, less than ten days after a similar feature was announced by Spotify. As per Amazon, Maestro can assist in creating a wide variety of playlists based on user prompts. These prompts can be short or long, and can include emojis, emotions, activities, sounds, or even be selected from a list of suggested prompts.
Maestro can generate a unique playlist within seconds, tailored to the user's input. Users can then listen to the playlist, save it, and share it with friends. Friends, in turn, can create their own playlists to share back.
Amazon has also stated that the technology behind Maestro is new and may not always provide accurate results initially. Systems have also been put in place to block offensive language and inappropriate prompts proactively.
The Maestro feature is currently in beta and is being rolled out to a subset of Free, Prime, and Unlimited Amazon Music customers in the U.S. on iOS and Android. Amazon Music Unlimited subscribers can instantly listen to and save their playlists, while Prime members and ad-supported customers can listen to 30-second previews of their playlists before saving.
Amazon plans to gradually expand access to the Maestro feature to more customers over time.
