Thunderbird unveils progress on K-9 Mail, enhances user interface and experience
The Thunderbird team has released a progress report detailing recent advancements in their project to convert K-9 Mail into Thunderbird for Android. The January report highlights significant enhancements to the user interface and user experience, particularly in the account setup phase.
One key addition is the ability to configure special folders such as Archive, Drafts, Sent, Spam, and Trash. During account setup, a screen is displayed prompting the user to assign these special folders. However, this screen can be bypassed if the server provides a full mapping, assigning all special roles to a folder directly.
The update has also led to a reorganization of account options, now split across two screens for a more streamlined user experience. Improvements have been made to the server certificate error screen as well.
The update includes a range of minor changes, enhancements, and bug fixes, demonstrating Thunderbird's commitment to refining and enhancing the functionality of this email client for Android users.
