Google's Android photo picker now supports cloud media apps for seamless photo selection

Google's recent update to the Android Photo Picker now supports cloud media apps, enabling users to choose photos and videos from their cloud services directly through the photo picker interface. This simplifies the process of accessing and using cloud-based media in Android applications. The new feature, part of the February Google System Update, is compatible with Android 12 and later versions.

Developers can incorporate photo selection into their apps using the Android photo picker, negating the need for custom solutions. Initially, it will support integration with Google Photos and will gradually expand to other cloud media apps through a pilot program.

Users have the flexibility to adjust or disable these integrations as required. The updated photo picker merges local and cloud-based media, offering a unified experience without the need to switch between different apps.
