1Password acquires Kolide to expand its device security offering
Popular password manager, 1Password, has announced its acquisition of device security solution, Kolide. Kolide's technology ensures that devices lacking proper security cannot access apps, thereby enhancing overall cybersecurity.
1Password's CEO, Jeff Shiner, in his announcement, emphasized that “Protecting remote and hybrid work requires securing both identity and devices, regardless of where employees work.” and that “Turning your employees into security advocates is critical, because it’s no longer possible for IT or security teams to micro-manage every device or every application that employees use – especially for remote and hybrid workforces.”
Kolide is recognized for its expertise in device health and contextual access management. As such, this acquisition is a strategic move to provide companies with a robust method of ensuring both device and access request security.
Expressing his aspirations for Kolide, CEO Jason Meller stated that “It was always my hope that we at Kolide should do for device security what 1Password has done for password management. It is my belief that every person in the world deserves to use computers with dignity and without fear of being taken advantage of by criminals and bad actors who seek to degrade, deny, or destroy the incredible things we all accomplish with the help of these magical devices.”
This acquisition is expected to fortify both 1Password and Kolide, facilitating their ongoing mission to deliver user-first security solutions to the masses.
