GitLab teams up with AWS to bring Amazon Q AI agents to GitLab's Duo assistant

GitLab and AWS have unveiled GitLab Duo with Amazon Q, a new integrated solution that merges GitLab's AI-powered DevSecOps platform with Amazon Q's autonomous AI agents. This collaboration aims to streamline software development by embedding AI agents into developers' daily workflows, eliminating the need to juggle multiple tools.

Amazon Q’s AI agents function as intelligent assistants, automating tasks such as code generation from requirements, unit test creation, code reviews, and Java application modernization. This integration is designed to help teams efficiently manage feature development from concept to code, update legacy systems, speed up code reviews while maintaining quality, and automate testing processes.

Targeted at enterprise-level operations, the solution combines GitLab's security, compliance, and privacy features with Amazon Q's AI capabilities. Currently, GitLab Duo with Amazon Q is available in preview for GitLab self-managed customers holding an Ultimate subscription.
