Apple Voice Memos introduces Layered Voice for Multitrack Recordings on iOS 18.2

iOS 18.2 has introduced a new feature for the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max, allowing users to record and overlay multiple audio tracks with the Voice memos app.

This update is particularly useful for musicians, as it facilitates easy experimentation with instrumental and vocal tracks by supporting two individual tracks, which can be exported to professional software like Logic Pro for further mixing. Users can layer background instrumentals, such as acoustic guitar or piano, as the first layer of their recordings. Additionally, pre-existing instrumental mixes can be integrated directly into the app as compressed audio files.

The feature, powered by the A18 Pro chip, utilizes machine learning to isolate vocal recordings, ensuring high-quality audio layers. This allows musicians to record vocals while playing instrumentals through the iPhone's speaker, without needing headphones, and seamlessly export tracks for advanced editing and production.
