Wayland tiling compositor Hyprland releases v0.44 with many new features and enhancements
Hyprland, a widely used Wayland tiling compositor, has released version 0.44, introducing a range of new features and improvements. This update includes a new --version argument, allowing users to check the Hyprland binary’s version directly, replacing the previous hyprctl version.
The release also adds a --systeminfo argument for accessing detailed system information, a layerrule order for managing layer arrangements, and a HYPRLAND_CONFIG environment variable for specifying configurations. Dwindle layout receives enhancements with the movetoroot layout message and split_bias config option. Users now have more control over window management with configurable auto-grouping for layouts.
The hyprctl tool has been updated with new properties for monitors and workspacerules requests, and a new submap request has been introduced. Additionally, Hyprland no longer overwrites the XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP environment variable, ensuring user-defined settings are preserved.
Graphics handling is expected to improve with the implementation of a single-pixel-buffer protocol. The update also addresses various bugs, aiming to refine user experience.
