TUXEDO OS 4 debuts with Ubuntu 24.04 LTS base, Linux Kernel 6.11, and KDE Plasma 6.1.5
TUXEDO, a German company known for its Linux computers, has announced the release of TUXEDO OS 4, now based on Ubuntu 24.04.1. This version introduces the KDE Plasma 6.1.5 desktop environment, alongside KDE Frameworks 6.6, KDE Gear 24.08.1, and Qt Libraries 6.7. The Linux kernel 6.11 powers the system, with systemd 255.4, Mesa 24.2, and PipeWire 1.2.5 enhancing performance.
The release includes an updated installer using Calamares 3.3.10 and refreshed default applications like Mozilla Firefox 132 and Mozilla Thunderbird 128.3.2 ESR. Notably, the naming convention for the operating system has changed. Moving forward, it will simply be called TUXEDO OS, foregoing version numbers due to its hybrid release model that combines rolling and point release features, allowing for nearly daily updates.
