PeaZip 10 released with revamped GUI engine, updated compression presets, improved backend
PeaZip has launched version 10 of its file archiver utility, featuring a host of new functionalities, enhancements, and bug resolutions. This latest release is based on 7-Zip 24.08. The backend Pea 1.20 introduces capabilities like searching hash values of files on Google and VirusTotal to detect known malware, along with new command line switches for text previews and saving checksum/hash results in GNU Coreutils-compatible formats.
For macOS users, the update includes customizable icons and updated Automator scripts for improved context menu integration. Windows users will notice a more efficient native drag and drop implementation and new system settings items tailored for Windows 10 and later versions available in the app context menu. Linux users benefit from the addition of an MTP devices folder in the Filesystem section, simplifying access to mounted devices such as Android phones and tablets.
The update also features an improved “Extract here” link in the toolbar, now accessible when selecting one or more archives in the file browser. PeaZip 10 boasts a revamped user interface, an updated GUI rendering engine, improved themes, enhanced compatibility with legacy 7z/p7zip syntax, and updated compression presets, among other improvements and bug fixes.
