Google Calendar just got a Material Design update with a dark mode option

Google has unveiled a refreshed user interface for Google Calendar, aligning it with Google Material Design 3. The update introduces modernized controls like buttons, dialogs, and sidebars, along with revamped typography using Google's custom-designed typefaces. Iconography has also been enhanced for improved legibility and a fresh aesthetic.

A notable feature of this update is the ability to toggle between light mode, dark mode, or device default theme options. This enhancement offers a more customizable viewing experience and can contribute to reduced battery usage. These updates are implemented throughout the entire calendar web experience, including the task list view. Users accessing tasks via tasks.google.com will be redirected to the new interface, with the option to switch between light or dark mode.

The rollout of these updates began on October 23, 2024, with a broader rollout scheduled for December 2, 2024. This update is accessible to all Google Workspace customers, Workspace Individual Subscribers, and users with personal Google accounts.
