DietPi 9.8 update improves support for Orange, NanoPi and ROCK single-board computers
DietPi, a minimal Debian-based Linux distribution designed for single-board computers, has released its latest version, 9.8. This update introduces support for the Orange Pi 3B's board revision v2.1, resolving previous Ethernet connectivity issues with the kernel. The network time synchronization process has been adjusted to apply the configured mirror from dietpi.txt before the first sync, streamlining initial setup.
The update also modifies the installation process to ensure the latest version of NoMachine is always downloaded, rather than relying on a version tied to the specific DietPi release. Additionally, DietPi now supports private and custom CA certificates by utilizing the host's trusted CA certificates, eschewing those included in the container image.
Enhancements have been made for several single-board computers, including the NanoPi M3/T3/R5S/R5C, ROCK 4/4 SE, and Orange Pi models. Improvements have also been applied to Portainer and NoMachine, alongside various bug fixes. The update further includes numerous minor performance and stability enhancements, as well as visual and spelling corrections.
