UBports unveils Ubuntu Touch OTA-4 with enhanced security, personalization and convenience
UBports has unveiled Ubuntu Touch OTA-4, the fourth stable update to the Ubuntu 20.04 LTS based mobile operating system. This latest release incorporates all security updates of Ubuntu 20.04 LTS.
New features of Ubuntu Touch OTA-4 include the ability to hide the content of notifications while the phone is locked. The lock screen also displays the estimated charging time for the phone, enhancing user convenience.
The System Settings in Ubuntu Touch OTA-4 has been updated with a new toggle switch. This switch allows users to change the system theme without requiring an additional app. Users can also assign specific ringtones to specific contacts, increasing personalization options.
The OTA-4 version has also been updated to improve security for developers. When connecting the phone to a new computer, the system now prompts for confirmation. This ensures that adb (Android Debug Bridge) commands will not function on a new computer until the user unlocks the phone and acknowledges the dialogue.
Alongside these new features, Ubuntu Touch OTA-4 also incorporates a variety of other enhancements, changes, and bug fixes, further improving the system's performance and stability.
