Plex to launch digital content store for renting and purchasing, and major UX refresh

Plex is reportedly preparing to launch a movie and TV show store in early February, which will enable users to rent and buy digital content directly on the platform similar to how it can be done in other streaming services like Prime Video. The store is designed to complement Plex's existing features, such as movie watchlists, or the recently launched 'Discover Together' feauture.

In addition to the store, Plex is planning a major User Experience (UX) refresh to cater to the increasing number of users using Plex for ad-supported movies, TV shows, and free Ad-supported Streaming (FAST) channels. The company also plans to introduce more social features, like public profiles, within the year, despite previous concerns over activity sharing features.
