Panic unveils Prompt 3.0: An advanced SSH client for iOS and macOS with enhanced features
Panic, the software company known for creating applications such as Coda, Transmit, and Nova, has recently launched version 3.0 of Prompt, their SSH app for iOS. This major update introduces Prompt 3 to macOS users, courtesy of Apple Universal Apps, which allows the app to be available for a single purchase.
Prompt 3 features a revamped text engine, which significantly improves scrolling and terminal emulation speeds, and includes support for GPU acceleration. The update also includes support for two new connection types, Mosh and Eternal Terminal, providing stable connections even in unstable network conditions.
The latest version of Prompt also introduces Clips, a feature that allows users to quickly insert frequently used commands and text snippets with a click or keyboard shortcut. Additionally, Panic Sync is included in Prompt 3, enabling users to seamlessly synchronize servers, keys, and passwords across devices, and between Mac and iOS platforms.
Prompt 3 enhances security by allowing users to encrypt their favorites using Face ID/Touch ID and supports YubiKey devices for simpler two-factor authentication. Further features of Prompt 3 include mouse support, agent forwarding, improved emulation, and a range of customization options, among others.
