WhatsApp rolls out multi-account support and enhanced community settings in latest updates
WhatsApp is introducing a new update, version 2.23.18.21, available through the Google Play Beta Program. This update marks the wide-scale release of a multi-account feature, complete with a redesigned app settings interface.
The multi-account feature, a first for WhatsApp, enables users to add an additional account to the same device without the use of parallel or cloned apps. This feature streamlines the management of conversations from multiple accounts within a single app. It offers separate conversations and notifications for each account and allows for seamless switching between accounts on the same device, eliminating the need for multiple devices or parallel apps.
In a preceding update, version 2.23.18.20, WhatsApp also introduced a feature to manage who can add members to communities. This feature is designed to give community admins greater control over their communities through enhanced permission management capabilities.
However, it is crucial to clarify that all users can still add members to the community if they possess a valid community invite link generated by the community admin. The new update merely allows community admins to control who can manually add new members to the community, without the necessity of a community invite link.
