Reddit launches Contributor Program to reward user with real money and revamps Gold system

Reddit has unveiled a new update to its Reddit Gold system and launched a new program that offers monetary rewards for qualifying users, including moderators, for their contributions to the platform. The revamped Gold system simplifies the process of awarding content by enabling users to purchase and award Gold by long-pressing the upvote icon on mobile or hovering over it on desktop within the post or comment they wish to reward.

The new Gold system began rolling out yesterday and is initially available on eligible content on native mobile apps and in select communities. The platform plans to expand it to additional communities in the coming weeks and make it available on the web later this year.

In addition to the Gold system, Reddit has also introduced a new Contributor Program. This program allows qualifying users to earn real money for the content they share and the contributions they make to the platform. To be eligible, users must be at least 18 years old, reside in a supported location (initially the United States), and have an account in good standing, among other factors.

Participants in the program can earn money for their eligible contributions. Once enrolled, they will receive payments on a monthly basis. The earnings a user receives will be calculated based on the amount of karma earned and Gold received on their eligible contributions.
