Google unveils Android's brand revamp ahead of Android 14 launch

As Google gears up for the impending launch of Android 14, the tech giant is concurrently working on a brand revamp to match its mobile operating system's aesthetics. The visual overhaul includes an updated logo for the operating system and the introduction of several new features.

The redesign features an updated typeface and a shift from all-lowercase to a capitalized Android name. Jason Fournier, director of Android Consumer Brand Management, explains this change was made to add “more weight to its appearance when placed next to Google’s logo”.

According to Fournier, the new visuals are inspired by Material Design to complement the Google brand palette and be adaptable. The Android logo, in particular, is getting a complete 3D makeover, giving it more dimension and character.

The refreshed brand identity elements, such as the updated logo and 3D bugdroid, are set to begin appearing on Android devices and in other places from this year onwards.
