Firefox 118.0 update: New built-In translations, Google Meet enhancements, and more

Mozilla Firefox has released version 118.0 to its Release channel users on September 26, 2023. The new version includes an automated web content translation feature that ensures user privacy by performing translations within the browser, without transmitting text off the device. The browser now utilizes the FDLIBM math library for Web Audio on all systems, enhancing anonymity via Fingerprint Protection. Additionally, to counter font fingerprinting in Private Browsing windows, Firefox has limited website access to system fonts and language pack fonts.

Additional features include the ability to use Video Effects and background blur on Google Meet through Firefox, available for versions 115 and onwards. For Firefox Suggest users in the U.S., browser add-on suggestions can now appear directly in the address bar based on search keywords. The update also comprises several security fixes, and for enterprise users, Firefox for Enterprise 118 includes policy updates and specific bug fixes. Web developers now have access to ten new CSS math functions, and OpaqueResponseBlocking is enabled by default to improve web security and privacy.
