Figma introduces localized data hosting in the EU for enhanced user control

Figma, a widely-used tool for graphic and interface designers, has recently announced a new feature that allows customers to host their Figma and FigJam file data within the European Union (EU). This development aims to provide its users with more control over the location of their data hosting.

Figma is kicking off its local file hosting service in the EU, focusing initially on the document contents of Figma and FigJam files. For more specifics on which file types can be hosted within the EU, the company has provided a detailed help page.

The main hosting location for this service is in Frankfurt, Germany, with backup data hosted in Dublin, Republic of Ireland. The cloud infrastructure provider for this service is Amazon Web Services (AWS).

However, it's important to mention that user metadata and login data will not be hosted within the EU. Additionally, some data in transit may be stored outside of the EU temporarily.

Figma has plans to expand its localized hosting solution to include video and image files, with the aim to implement this early next year. This EU data hosting option is currently only available to Figma’s Enterprise plan.
