Affinity launches v2.2 of its creative software suite with new features and enhancements

Affinity, a widely recognized software suite for designers and photographers, has recently launched version 2.2, four months after its 2.1 update, introducing a range of significant upgrades and features. This suite, comprising Affinity Designer, Affinity Photo, and Affinity Publisher, is frequently considered as a primary alternative to Adobe's creative software suite.

The new release includes an innovative cross-references feature in Affinity Publisher 2.2, facilitating the linking of readers from one section of a document to another. Moreover, Affinity Photo now supports OCIO v2, a significant enhancement for VFX, film or 3D artists.

Another noteworthy feature of Affinity Publisher 2.2 is the ability to define custom text variables as fields. This functionality enables users to add and assign any value to new fields, such as price, name, date, etc.

Affinity Designer has also received enhancements, with new data entry options, including 'object creation' and 'move' data entries. The 'move' data entry provides an innovative method to reposition, rotate, and duplicate one or more objects, all manageable via a dialog.

The 2.2 release also brings long-press tool shortcuts, an option to change guide colors, a toggle to hide all layer effects or switch to grayscale, additional keyboard shortcuts for pixel brush tools, among other updates. With this suite of enhancements, Affinity continues to evolve its software, striving to meet the diverse needs of its user base.
