Microsoft Launcher for Android finally integrates Bing Chat AI feature
Microsoft Launcher for Android is preparing for an update that includes the integration of Microsoft Copilot, a feature currently in beta testing. This feature will be available through the Launcher's search bar on all devices using Microsoft Launcher, including the Surface Duo, Microsoft's own Android device. (which hasn't received much love lately, but that's another story).
The forthcoming update breaks a period of little activity for Microsoft Launcher by adding a much-desired feature. Users will be able to start chat sessions with Bing Chat AI without needing to download the Microsoft Bing app. The home screen and Launcher's search function will also feature a Bing Chat icon. Clicking on this icon will open the Bing Chat interface within the Launcher, so it's not a shortcut to the website version or anything like that. There's also see a microphone icon, so you have the option to interact through voice (and the chatbot will read the responses out loud) or text. You can also choose the conversion style among creative, balanced, and precise, and use the Text-to-Image generation tool (Bing Image Creator) through the chat UI. However, there are still other features to see if they end up arriving in this initial implementation, such as the chat history.
As we mentioned, this feature is only available to the Microsoft Launcher Beta, so if you want to try it out, it is recommended to sign up for the testing program here. Nonetheless, the update is anticipated to be more widely available in the coming weeks.
