Google Photos launches Locked Folder backup feature for iOS and Web users

Google Photos has launched a Locked Folder backup feature for iOS and Web users, allowing them to backup their locked content along with other items. This feature ensures that the backed-up content is accessible on all devices linked to the same Google Photos account, including web, iPhone, and iPad devices(Android users were able to do it for a while), preventing loss of Locked Folder content during device transfers.

The Locked Folder feature also enhances privacy and security by preventing photos and videos within it from appearing in the main grid, albums, search, or Memories sections of Google Photos. The content in the Locked Folder is protected by a password and remains inaccessible to other applications.

Users can choose to enable the Google Photos Locked Folder backup or keep the content offline. Google has also restructured the Photos settings into high-level menus for Backup, Notifications, Preferences, Sharing, Apps & devices, and Privacy, eliminating the need for scrolling through a lengthy page. The update is rolling out on iOS and Android devices, so stay tuned for its arrival if you are a user of the service.
