Factorio takes us to new planets and challenges with Space Age expansion
Factorio, the well-known game where players build and manage factories, mine resources, research technologies, automate production, and combat enemies, has recently announced the release of an expansion titled Factorio: Space Age. This new expansion extends the player's journey beyond launching rockets into space, opening up the opportunity to explore new worlds with unique challenges, exploit their resources for advanced technological progress, and oversee a fleet of interplanetary space platforms.
In Space Age, the game's dynamics shift as players are required to launch multiple rockets into space to transport materials for constructing large space platforms in orbit. To accommodate this change, the cost of rockets has been reduced, but the expectation for players to build on a larger scale has increased.
Simultaneously, the tech tree has undergone a rebalancing. With Space Age enabled, certain items that are available in the vanilla game will unlock later on some planets. This change specifically affects artillery, cliff explosives, Spidertron, the best tier of modules, and some personal equipment upgrades.
Further details and announcements from Factorio can be found in their official blog post.
