ClamAV releases stable version 1.2.0 with improved features and security patches

ClamAV, the open-source antivirus engine renowned for detecting a wide range of malicious threats, has released its stable version 1.2.0. Concurrently, ClamAV has also rolled out security patch versions 1.1.2, 1.0.3, and 0.103.10 in response to a recent CVE for the UnRAR library. ClamAV is urging all users to upgrade to one of these versions.

The 1.2.0 version of Clam Antivirus introduces several enhancements and modifications. Notably, it will now support the extraction of Universal Disk Format (UDF) partitions. Users will also have the ability to customize the size of ClamAV's clean file cache. A SystemD timer has been added for running Freshclam updates, eliminating the need to send Freshclam into the background.

In addition, the update raises the MaxScanSize limit, allowing the total amount of data scanned when assessing a file or archive to surpass 4 gigabytes. Freshclam has also been given the ability to use a client certificate PEM file and a private key PEM file for authentication to a private mirror by setting specific environment variables.

The 1.2.0 update also includes a host of other improvements and bug fixes, marking a significant step forward for ClamAV.
