Visual Studio Code 1.80: enhanced accessibility, Python extensions, and new features now available
The newest release of Visual Studio Code, version 1.80, is now available for download on various platforms, including Windows, Mac, and Linux. This version introduces a variety of new features and fixes for June 2023.
The update includes significant improvements in accessibility such as an Accessible View for better screen reader support and Copilot audio cues. The editor has been enhanced with improved group and tab resizing options, allowing users to set a minimum tab size and avoid unnecessary group resizing. The update also provides users with the capability to skip subwords when expanding selection, offering the option to use camel case for selection. Additionally, the integrated terminal can now display images directly, improving the visual experience of terminal interactions.
Visual Studio Code 1.80 also integrates Python extensions for mypy and debugpy, enabling Python type checking and debugging within the software. It also allows for remote connections to Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL) instances on remote machines using Tunnels. The update introduces a new preview feature that lets users quickly scaffold projects and notebooks with GitHub Copilot create workspace/notebook.
