Microsoft announces rebranding of Azure Active Directory to Microsoft Entra ID
Microsoft has recently announced a rebranding of Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) to Microsoft Entra ID. The company stated that the change is indicative of the evolution and unification of the Microsoft Entra product family, and is part of an ongoing commitment to simplify secure access experiences for all users.
Despite the name change, the features and capabilities of Azure AD will continue to be available under Microsoft Entra ID. Microsoft has confirmed that prices, terms, and service level agreements will remain unchanged. Additionally, Azure AD URLs, APIs, and authentication libraries will stay the same, along with the developer experiences, ensuring a smooth transition for users.
The new name, Microsoft Entra ID, will gradually be introduced across all Microsoft products and experiences throughout the second half of 2023. Customers currently using Azure AD can expect to continue having access without any planned disruptions, as the company ensures a seamless transition during the rebranding process.
