FreeFileSync releases version 12.5 with improved features and bug fixes for file sync and backup
FreeFileSync, a folder comparison and synchronization software, has been a consistent player in the market for 15 years. This software is designed to create and manage backup copies of all your crucial files, enabling syncing and backing up of files between multiple devices.
Recently, FreeFileSync announced the release of its latest version, 12.5, which introduces several improvements and bug fixes. The new version brings a host of changes, including the merging of logs of individual steps such as comparison, manual operation, and sync. The progress dialog header now shows the total percentage, and errors during cleanup or exception handling are now logged and reported.
In addition, if the existence check fails for the other side of the pair, folder traversal is skipped. The software can automatically adapt batch options to prevent hanging a non-interactive process, a feature specifically designed for Windows. The new version also supports path lists for external applications, including %item_paths%, %local_paths%, %item_names%, and %parent_paths%.
Other changes include the creation of directory lock files with hidden attribute, the prevention of clearing the other side when right-clicking file selection, fixing of passive FTP when using a different IP than the control connection, and working around FTP servers silently renaming unsupported characters of temporary file.
FreeFileSync version 12.5 is now available for download for Mac, Windows, and Linux from their official website.
