DigitalOcean acquires AI and Cloud computing platform Paperspace

DigitalOcean has announced the acquisition of Paperspace, an artificial intelligence (AI) and high-performance cloud computing platform. The move aims to connect Paperspace's customers to a broader suite of cloud services and tools, simplifying the cloud for developers and businesses.

The collaboration between DigitalOcean and Paperspace is expected to provide a range of cloud offerings, advanced networking, and flexibility to cater to AI/ML demands. This will empower customers to test, develop, deploy, enhance, and optimize AI/ML applications, effectively addressing the growing need for AI/ML cloud solutions. DigitalOcean also intends to expand GPU availability in more locations and support new businesses, leveraging its resources and support to foster the growth and success of Paperspace.

Despite the acquisition, Paperspace will continue to operate as a standalone business unit within DigitalOcean for the foreseeable future. According to the company, customers of Paperspace will not experience immediate changes to their services. Amazon Web Services, Oracle and Microsoft Azure are among the leading cloud providers that are either already offering or developing AI services.
