Bear 2.0 is here: The next-generation for the Markdown Note-Taking app with bunch of features

As we mentioned just a couple of days ago, the new version of the popular note-taking app, Bear 2.0, has officially launched and it comes loaded with a range of new features, themes, and improved speed. The app's next-generation editor introduces tables, nested styles, folding, and a sketching tool compatible with Apple PencilKit. Markdown formatting is now concealed for a minimalist look, and link previews and PDF thumbnails have been incorporated for better visualization.

The app allows users to resize, crop, and add footnotes to images within notes, and images can be converted into PDFs using the document scanning feature. The new editing keyboard and photo picker enhance text formatting and image insertion. Bear 2.0 also supports Arabic and Hebrew languages with Right to Left (RTL) language support. The update also enhances note organization with an info panel that shows a table of contents and backlinks within notes.

Additional features include new Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets for easy access to random notes, note creation, search, and viewing the last edited note. Customization options have been broadened to include custom font support, app icon choices, and six new themes for Bear Pro users. For Mac users, Bear 2.0 includes Shortcuts support, simplifying the export and backup of notes. The app's new architecture enables cross-platform compatibility across Mac, iPad, and iPhone. It is also important to remember that, as mentioned in the previous post, users should not delete Bear 1, but rather update their app through the App Store. The new version will replace the old one, importing all data. Keep in mind that version 1 and 2 cannot sync, so upgrading to Bear 2 on all devices is advised for synchronization.

Bear 2.0 is free on the App Store, with a Bear Pro subscription providing extra benefits such as more export formats, themes, and iCloud sync between devices. If you want to read all the changes, visit the official announcement here. They also have a cute video showcasing the new features 🐻‍❄️
